Academic Appointments & Honors

Mr. Fagan's commitment to teaching started with his first job after graduation from undergraduate school as a teacher in pre-K Head Start in San Antonio teaching english as a second language and continued while in law school where he taught at night in adult literacy classes in Austin, Texas. For the first twenty years after graduation from law school Mr. Fagan focused his professional time on serving his clients both as a private practice and as in house general counsel. In 1990 Mr. Fagan returned to private practice from his in-house General Counsel position and returned to teaching in undergraduate, graduate, and law school in Texas, Mexico and Canada, holding the following appointments:

  • Adjunct Professor, International Trade, International Arbitration, St. Mary’s University School of Law (1990-2000);
  • Director, Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration, St. Mary’s University School of Law (1991-2008);
  • Adjunct Professor, International Business Law,University of the Incarnate Word (2007-2008);
  • Visiting Lecturer, Universidad de Monterrey School of Law (1991-1995);
  • Visiting Lecturer, Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon School of Law (1995-1996);
  • Co-Planner and Lecturer, “Joint Venture” post-graduate program between St. Mary’s University School of Law and the Law Department of the Universidad de Monterrey (1992-1994);
  • Lecturer, “Abogados de las Americas” post-graduate program between St. Mary’s University School of Law and the Universidad de Anahuac (1995);
  • Project Director, St. Mary’s/OAS Collaborative on ADR in the Americas;
  • Member, Advisory Council, School of Peace and Conflict Management, Royal Roads University, Victoria, BC, Canada (1996-2011);
